Fire outbreak, called Sandy Fire is in Simi Valley, about 2 miles from some of my family in Thousand Oaks. It's burned about 800 acres. Problem with this fire, is where it is positioned.... there isn't much brush. It's all homes. Family says the wind has died down, and fire trucks are positioned all around them in case.
any posters near the fire? . @Tinkrbl44 , ? I know you are further away. But wondered if smoke was getting you. My other family Tuluca Lake and Burbank have just started to see a little smoke. Keeping fingers crossed this fizzles!!

Prayers sent.
My biggest fear is wildfires. I live constantly in fear during the early summer months through early fall.
I've had to evacuate more than once.
Hope your family is safe.

I guess the wind just shifted. Some of my family's neighbors have gotten evacuation orders. It has spread. It has been warm , and the Santa Ana's are blowing warm air as well. Although the Santa Ana's haven't gone crazy yet. Thanks for concern!

@Puppy Galore it is the pits,! My family down South goes through this a lot. I am North, but we have been though fires twice. The Santa Cruz, Mount Madonna fires and the UVAs fire was the worst. There was one year we were surrounded on all 4 sides! Middle of hot summer as well. We had to leave home smoke ...was so bad, my yard looked like a snow fall...but we were lucky. !! It is scary! I just am so sad ...not just for humans ( primary concern) , but the wildlife, and the environment.

I remember the MT Madonna and Ubas fires, I lived in Santa Cruz County at the time.
I'm in Shasta County and swear every year it will be my last.

We have a fire started under sad circumstances here in. New Mexico too. Over the weekend a medivac plane making the short flight from Roswell to Ruidoso crashed in the Capitan Mountains killing the two nurses and two pilots onboard. It started a fire that has burned 17,000 acres so far in an area so rugged it's hard to fight or even retrieve the bodies.

I just came home from gallivanting and didn't see anything that seemed like smoke.
We've had some clouds, which I always love. They call it the May Grays, and next month it's called June Gloom, lol.
I hope they get the fire under control asap.

@Kachina624 that is horrible , just tragic and sad, doctors and nurses on their way somewhere important I bet, 12,000 acres is a lot of land! Is it close to any homes?
