ITA cable is a total rip off. We currently have Cox cable bundled with phone (which we don't use)and internet. We have been seriously thinking of dropping the cable and phone. The constant increase in prices and having to literally wheel and deal for a decent monthly fee is becoming exhausting. We're just worried that our "internet only" bill will skyrocket as the whole thing is a total scam! We watch very few channels anyway, it's too bad they can't be reasonable and just charge for the channels you wish to have.......what a concept.

@CelticCrafter @Laura14 My friend said the supply chain issues that they mention are most likely the transportation costs of getting newly purchased modems and equipment from the manufacuturers shipped to them. They probably have had to air freight equipment in to their warehouses from the Phillipines or Vietnam (or similar) that they purchased because putting it on a ship is too slow and the cost of air freight is super high.
Based on my experience when we had to get items to Hawaii in a hurry from California a few years ago, I bet the cost right now is through the roof.

Thanks @CAcableGirl2 . This world has gone nuts. We've gone from airlifting humanitarian supplies to humans to airlifting modems for Siri, Alexa, and Google.

Most cable and fiber companies are in the streaming Business. A customer pays one price for the internet speed of their choice and then buys programming. A bundle of cable content internet service, and phone service will give you the best deal.
Buying internet and adding Disney+, Discovery+, or Hulu Live add up. It can cost more than a package.
Please call your cable company and ask them to reduce the price.
Cable companies post a notice 30 days in advance of any bill changes. Dslreports.com has a forum for all cable companies. You can see how other people are dealing with this changel in your market.

I do have cable and the internet. I think I said if the price is too much next time my contract is up I will get rid of the box and just keep the internet. Isn't that how you stream, having the internet? Just pay the internet price. Maybe I'm wrong.
I streem on my ipad and I think you can streem on TV without cable, just elimating cable box, you can't watch TV programs, but you can get whatever streaming service you want, like Prime, Netflex, Hulu, etc. Also you can get TV programs the next day streaming. I have more things to watch from my computers, pads and TV. It's just I have had cable so long, at least 40 years when it was cheap and no internet then.
My son is a designer for xfinity and will be retiring in two years.
Even he can't help me with the prices. He's lucky, he gets it all free.

My service with Spectrum has risen to $275/mth! That's for cable, internet and the non existent phone which is located somewhere in my house. The only reason we keep it is for the NY Rangers hockey games which you can't get in a lower priced package. The cable companies have it all figured out. I will be cutting the cord however and telling Mr. RangerNut to get a satellite dish because I am done. I also have subscriptions to Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+, Apple Music, Paramount + and I don't know what else. Seriously, all of this is more than my a car payment!

@Linda0215 if you upgrade your Disney+ to to the package that includes Hulu & ESPN+ he will get his Ranger games.

We have Comcast for cable and wiFi, also Netflix and Hulu. Comcast raises the price every January.
Can anyone answer this please, if you get rid of cable, don't you need unlimited wi-fi to use only streaming services, if you watch TV a lot? My TV is on most of the time, just for background noice. How does that work?

@Laura14. Our cable company was started by a local man many years ago. When we first moved here our cable bill was $8 per month, with limited channels. As the company has grown they have managed to be the ONLY cable company in the area. And, the charges have skyrocketed!!! Their explanation of supply chain charges is that the equipment used in transmission as well as replacement parts have become more difficult to get and somehow is putting a strain on their operation. Imo, it's basic greed!!! As the only cable company available (still owned and operated by the same family) lining their pockets is their main objective.
The only other option is for some type of dish service. Unfortunately DH says they don't carry all of the sports channels he wants. And, no, we don't have any premium channels. We have basic cable and internet services with them.
