@shoesnbags I have a Cox bundle here in Phx. Been with them for over 20 years. They discounted my bundle (cable/internet) by over $60/month.
This week I got a $7. 00 raise in my bill so I called Cox. They were able to shave $2.50 off the raise and I was offered a 2 yr contract to keep my monthly bill as it is. I'm thinking about it. I have hesitation about signing a contract but I'll probably do it to retain my monthly rate.

@qvcaddition If you are not hooked up to cable how are you able to stream?
01-07-2022 11:33 PM
@Katcat1 Cable provides you TV, Internet and phone if you want. Getting rid of cable means only the TV part. You still have internet service and that is what you stream with.
We got rid of cable two years ago and kept only internet and phone, because cel service is very poor where we are. Wished we had ditched cable sooner. We only stream now. There are lots of options out there, look into it. You might be able to save some $$$.

@Pezzie Okay, you saved Internet and can stream from there but when you watch a program is it on your TV or Internet? I know nothing about streaming so I hope you don't mind me asking you about it.

@Katcat1 All the shows I watch is on the TV, although I could watch it on my iPad if I wanted to. I like watching on the bigger TV screen.
If you decide to stream, you will have to subscribe to streaming services, such as Netflix, or Peacock, Disney, Hulu etc. Depends on what you like to watch. If you have a newer TV a lot of the streaming apps are preloaded on to the TV and you just have to log in to those apps with your credentials and then you can start streaming.

@Pezzie Your TV has to be hooked up to something like an antenna if you don't have cable.

@Katcat1 You can have an antenna, it might get you some local channels, but you don't need it to stream. You subscribe to streaming networks like Hulu, Netflix, etc., just like you'd subscribe to a cable company.

@Katcat1 Just like you log into this forum, you log into the app on the smart tv by typing your username and password with your remote. You have letters on the numbers just like the telephone. From there, it's literally point and click just like the internet. Very easy. Basically a smart tv becomes a big iPad or computer screen.

@grandma r wrote:@Katcat1. Cable prices are outrageous!!! We only have 1 cable company for our area and they charge whatever they want. Our last bill even had a $13 charge to "offset supply chain issues". Gimme a break, it's nothing more than legal thievery.
Supply chain issues? WTH are they having a hard time getting - pixels?
