How soon should you let your cable company know you're moving to a new area, that they also service and you will keep same company?

Are you able to call them?    There should be a phone number on your monthly bill....     Or go to their website on your computer?

Re: Cable Company and moving

When we downsized a couple years ago we simply called a week or so in advance.  At that time they set up the cancellation at our current residence for moving day and a day or two after we moved in the cable company was there to set us up in the new place.

@susielong1   I am a many decades long Comcast customer.    The more advance notice they have the better, especially if you want their  in person tech to come to your  new home to set  up  the system.

Otherwise, you can wait up to a week or sometimes longer before they can get to you.

I need the technician, not the "over the phone"  guidance if you get stuck if you try self installation.

Plus,  the tech will bring the latest equipment, remotes, etc. and  can check wires if necessary.

Comcast will spread the installation  charge  over three months if you want that option.

I use the phone to contact them for appointments, service, and to

pay my bill  each month.

Re: Cable Company and moving

I would try to call them about a month in advance. We are actually moving this coming weekend, and the home that we are moving into already had cable hookups, so we just called a month in advance and they set up the switch date-super easy! Now if you don't already have cable in your new home, then I would definitely call at least a month in advance, because if they need to send a tech guy out, it may take longer.
