Wonder if this will cause more people to shop there or will they lose that income from cigarettes and not make it up elsewhere.

I'm not a smoker, never have been, but d h was for many years. He quit, cold turkey about 20 years ago. I never thought it would happen, but he did it!
Cigarettes are extremely expensive; I wish everyone could get un-hooked.

Moxie - everyone is going to have their heirs collect on their life insurance policies sooner or later! I think that individual policies all ask if you are a smoker now...and the premiums are higher.
Companies that self insure (for health insurance) can charge more for employees that smoke.

They eliminated tobacco products a month earlier than announced, changed the name. They're a little late to the game and had to catch up.
They seem to make the news every couple of years for "pharmacy prescription mistakes".
CVS here is a dirty unorganized pit that I wouldn't trust to fill a script. They can do whatever they want because I haven't been in one in years!
That commercial grosses me out. I have been in a CVS only twice and I was not impressed, still prefer Walgreens.
Well LindsaysGrandma, let's hope no one you love ever has to gross you out the way the commercial does.
Like Garmers mom, mine spoke the same way.....and she was not gross.
{{{{{Garmer & Celtic}}}} I lost both of my parents to cancer, and although neither of them spoke that way, I'm sure their last days would have grossed some people out, too.
I'm so sorry for your losses, both of you.
I would think that someone who put himself out there like that, relinquishing his own privacy, to make a provocative (not gross) commercial hoping to make others consider quitting smoking, would be respected and earned our gratitude.
I should cease being amazed, but I never am.
Just to re-iterate. Those were NOT the commercials ShowMe was talking about.

They do a thorough screening for all drugs, legal and illegal when you purchase the policy.

Health insurance does charge more for a policy for a smoker.
As for your position that you should be on your own financially if you get ill related to smoking:
1. There would be no way to prove that an individual's problem was brought on by smoking. Statistically, yes, but individually no. In addition, the smoking could in many cases be only a contributing factor. Not the entire issue.
2. Many people are totally addicted to smoking and are not able to quit. Many people of elder age today started when they were practically children and didn't know better.
3. While we are at it, let's say people are on their own for being overweight. Let 'em pay themselves or just go away and die? How about people who are too skinny? How about people who do any number of things to contribute to their own ill health. Let 'em pay their own costs or go away and die.
My mother DIED from lung cancer. I have no affection or support for tobacco products. I hate them. I support all non-smoking laws as to workplace and public venues. However, there is a LIMIT.
