I think, if it's the one I've seen today, the man had throat cancer from cigarettes and has a hole in his neck, explains it AND then they go into the CVS philosophy.

They eliminated tobacco products a month earlier than announced, changed the name. They're a little late to the game and had to catch up.

They seem to make the news every couple of years for "pharmacy prescription mistakes".

CVS here is a dirty unorganized pit that I wouldn't trust to fill a script. They can do whatever they want because I haven't been in one in years!

That commercial grosses me out. I have been in a CVS only twice and I was not impressed, still prefer Walgreens.

Well LindsaysGrandma, let's hope no one you love ever has to gross you out the way the commercial does.

Like Garmers mom, mine spoke the same way.....and she was not gross.

Good for them for taking this approach. As for the man's voice, it isn't that, but his taking out his plates and when I know that is about to happen, I have to turn my head, but if it reaches just one person and shows them what could happen to them, then the ad has done its job!

I have not seen the commercial but I refuse to patronize this store after they pulled a major magazine because they did not think area residents should have access to them.

i don't need a store to ""Big Brother"" me. i have the government for that.

Re: CVS PHARMACY......Don't know about you,

I can take them or leave them..but they did help us tremendously on something when we were on vacation 9 hours from home.

We left behind one of hubby's insulin and they pulled up his profile and was able to see what he was currently prescribed and gave us a bottle..at first to the tune of $254..I had a cow when I saw the price..I thought hundred bucks but I would eat it..as it was our mistake.

When I asked if they could at least try my insurance..and gave them the card..they then called the insurance company on a Sunday for us..got an override for them to pay for it since we were out of town on vacation and it was a life altering drug..and they let them give us the bottle for our single copay of $25...which I thought was very good..on all parts..Nobody had to help out..CVS could of said "too bad so sad..pay the $254.or not.." but they didn't! Insurance company also could of said...sorry but we already paid for the monthly supply..but they didn't either..

As for the commercial - I haven't seen it..with my crazy schedule I watch 30-min of TV a day and that is the morning news lol...

I get annoyed with their long wait times sometimes..but I now make sure that I have somebody drop DH scripts off ahead of time for me..and then they text me when they are ready..so that was resolved..

All of our stores in all towns are neat, new and clean. The CVS that helped us in Ocean City MD was fantastically clean, well organized, and lots of stuff in stock!

I have never encountered a run down dirty one!

Just last weekend they had 75% off Summer Items and on the end of the shelf was As Seen on TV attachments to your hose that turns your hose into a Pressure Washer...well the girl gave me the 75% off even though they were not really part of the sale she said..those items were at the very end and it could of gone either way but they said it was easy enough on my part to think that..and they honored it..it was originally $19.99 and I got it for $4.99...We have a couple pressure washers but figured this would be a quick way not to get more power with the hose wthout hooking up the pressure washer..

Re: CVS PHARMACY......Don't know about you,

I haven't seen the commercial (that I can recall). However, I give major props to my local CVS. I've had my 'scrips filled there for years without issue. The store is always clean and orderly. On the other hand, my llocal Walgreens is a crowded mess.

{{{{{Garmer & Celtic}}}} I lost both of my parents to cancer, and although neither of them spoke that way, I'm sure their last days would have grossed some people out, too. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

I'm so sorry for your losses, both of you.

I would think that someone who put himself out there like that, relinquishing his own privacy, to make a provocative (not gross) commercial hoping to make others consider quitting smoking, would be respected and earned our gratitude.

I should cease being amazed, but I never am.

good for them. I quit a few years ago and I feel so much better. I know it isn't easy to stop, but it is a very bad habit and causes so many health issues, which winds up costing everyone in the long run, both emotionally and financially. It is a waste when I see people light up. I don't say anything, because I know I had to come to my own decision to quit and it was nothing that anyone stated to me.

I know that in the Boston area, CVS stopped carrying them a few years ago and I am glad it is now going nationwide.

I think their commercial is fine. Perhaps it will make some smokers stop and think.

or not.

Re: CVS PHARMACY......Don't know about you,

I haven't seen a CVS commercial with a man speaking in a strange tone? Perhaps you are thinking of another commercial from the Lung Association (I think that;s it) where they have a man take out his dentures because of gum disease, a young mother that had a premie, and another man with a tracheotomy....all due to smoking.

The CVS commercials that I have seen show them taking the cigarettes out of the stores, people getting health exams, and healthy choices in living...promoting some sort of health initiative.

Unless of course, they are showing different commercials in certain areas.

Re: CVS PHARMACY......Don't know about you,

Regarding CVS's decision to stop selling cigarettes, I commend them for their decision. Wonder if this will cause more people to shop there or will they lose that income from cigarettes and not make it up elsewhere.
