@drizzellla, I love that cart scanner at Sam's Club. I use self service at all the warehouse clubs. My usual orders are way under ten items. So easy now to self scan and go. Show my receipt walking out to the exit and without stopping they tell me I'm good.

I know.-  we went to both Sam's and Costco today. Costco there was a line of about 6 people in ffront of us waiting to exit . At Sam's the Sam's employee said have a nice day. He didn't want to see our receipt. We never stopped walking out of the store.

But since you have to show your membership card to get in how do you eat at the food court if you're not a member?  Are we talking about people who are with members?

I am able to enter the store without showing my membership card.

May I ADD, I went to Costco today.  Still no scanning machine.

Was aware that this is probably one of the last times in 2024 that I will be able to find parking and GET INTO THE STORE EASILY.

As soon as our weather changes (in a few weeks) thousands and thousands of winter "visitors" will descend upon us in Phoenix.

Then, the MOBS BEGIN to appear at Costco and, MANY TIMES, I cannot find parking at all, so I cannot get into the store!

My shopping next week will reflect the fact that I must stock up on ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING I CAN until after the New Year!

Also, I noted Christmas displays have appeared...not FULL DISPLAY, but I saw some new trees and other decor already fully lit...very pretty!

I have been in Costcos up and down the west coast and AZ and even FL and have to show our card.  I thought it was federal law 😏😊

I go into Costco often and even though I am by myself, I still manage to spend money there. I get paper products, gifts, clothes, food etc. etc.

I love shopping in Costco. I usually go in the evening when it is less busy.

In my Costco, the food court is in the store behind the registers. There is always a crowd there. Occasionally, I stop and get a hot dog.

I really miss the Italian sausage and pepper sandwich, that was my favorite.

@tansy  I'm sorry, I should have mentioned that I was referencing Sam's Club in my post, not Costco.  Upthread I posted that I didn't think Sam's Club required a membership card to purchase items in their food court.

Costco pharmacy is open to the public, I have been there many time picking up prescriptions for my mom.  Neither of us have a membership.

Find it funny how some members get so wierd about the possibility of a non member getting a hot dog or slice of pizza.  Like they are stealing food out of their mouths.

Someday, when scientists discover the center of the Universe....some people will be disappointed it is not them.

I pay for my membership and I am aware that people come in and buy without a membership.  Had a friend come with us and he needed something for his home that  had been destroyed by weather.  I offered to take him with me and I would buy it for him as a gift.  He stood with me and  pushed his credit card forward and paid for it himself.  I could not believe they would allow it.  I said nothing for fear of a confrontation.  But thinking about it I wonder how many tag alongs and do the same thing. Or how  many just walk in.

@pdlinda No one can enter without a card. However, the food court is not IN the store but on a side area.

You just tell them you are going to the food court. The pizza and hot dogs are good and cheap.  So some people just go to the food court.  Where I live the food court is busy all the time.
