CHARITY DONATIONS VIA GROCERY SHOPPING

My Ralphs grocery stores (a Kroger retailer) have a Community Rewards donations preference option.  You can select from a number of charities.

Perhaps your grocery chains also have a program like this?

The Kroger Family of Companies is committed to community engagement, positive social impact and charitable giving at the national and local levels. Every community is unique, but our common goal is to partner with the neighborhoods we serve and help the people there live healthier lives.

One of the ways in which we do this is through our Ralphs Community Rewards program. This program makes fundraising easy by donating to local organizations based on the shopping you do every day. Once you link your Card to an organization, all you have to do is shop at Ralphs and swipe your Shopper’s Card.

So .... each time I shop, at the bottom of my receipt, it states "On your behalf, we are contributing to A Cat's Tale".

A Cat's Tale is a no-kill shelter located in Redondo Beach, CA.  Last calendar quarter, my purchases generated $10.74 for this charity.

No such thing in my area, but I think that's a great idea.

Re: CHARITY DONATIONS VIA GROCERY SHOPPING

Unfortunately, I stopped going to Kroger near me so I don't know.

I kind of got shadowed banned after a jar of pickles fell off the self checkout (only option open) and you can't take the bags off the bagging station until you pay. Total accident.

The Walmart near me has been doing a fundraise for Feed America and I think I've donated about $15 so far between that and the Salvation Army guy is already out front and ringing that bell.

Happy to help! I've got people helping me so passing it along...

Our Publix stores often ask to donate for different organizations at least once a month sometime more often.

I give locally, I feed the homeless near my neighborhood about 3 times a week.

There's a fast food place here and I let them order whatever they, even for their pets.

I don't donate to charities or religious organizations.

Rouse's is our regional grocery chain. They have filled brown paper grocery bags up by the checkout lines. Each bag has a regular receipt attached with the foods inside listed and the total. You can just grab a bag and add it to your cart, pay for it and drop it in the Food Bank bin as you exit the store. I love it because it's makes it easy to do a good deed. I did it this morning. Good to hear that other groceries are finding ways to encourage giving.

Is that so that the store can get the tax break for YOUR donations?  I prefer to give on my own and not through a grocery store.
