Re: CHARITY DONATIONS VIA GROCERY SHOPPING

The stores by us have donations for a particular place that they choose...like a food bank or basic places.  I always ask where in particular it is going so that I am not donating and it feeds down to Los Angeles which is very common.   We need our donations local.  But when it is for our local food bank I do donate and always get a tax receipt at the end of the year.

I have found most times nobody really knows where it's going.  Then for sure I don't donate.

Red Robin had a Veteran's thing going on to donate their gift cards and the sign said it would be kept local.  I asked and in fact it is not and sent to the main location.

I don't donate food at all.  I prefer to donate monetarily to our local food bank.  They know what food is most in need and have worked out wholesale prices with distributors so the money goes a long way.

@Tinkrbl44   many places!  You have to look but the usual, places I donate like Stray Cat alliance there in LA does it, so does Susan Love breast cancer foundation, second harvest food bank. And 2. very large and worth while places to me, but can't say here on this thread, lol.. I also do a museum.  Those are matched.  Some only up to 50,000 worth of matching donations, some more.  But it helps. Also, sometimes if you check the place you work or worked they offer some as well.

Any business that asks me to "round up" is a big no from me.
