I DO NOT AGREE WITH THESE HUNTS< THAT SAID> Most of you are aware that there are private hunting ranches in the U.S. that have hunts like these. For a fee, a trophy hunter can go to a private ranch, where the animals (buffalo, moose, elk, assort deer) are in a confined space (basically trapped) and are shot for nothing more than the trophy head. It is an outrage, and I hate it when people seem to overlook the fact that these hunts are not just overseas but on our home ground...AND ARE LEGAL>

Apparantly they have reserves where they raise lions as well for hunting.

Thank you so much for this information. I've searched, but found nothing. Do you know if we have any intention of returning this killer to the scene of his crime? I say SEND HIM BACK as a lesson to future "hunters".

The Zimbabwe gov't has requested his extradition to stand trial there, but the last I heard our gov't hasn't responded one way or another.

You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Yes, there are private hunting ranches in Texas, that is because there is very little public land in Texas to hunt on, unlike many other states. So people pay to hunt on the private land. I know people that have hunted on these ranches and none of them were trophy hunters and every place I'm familiar with the animals were skinned and the meat cut and packaged for the hunter to take home. It's included in the hunting charge. On occasion someone may not want all the meat they are entitled to IME it's been offered to other hunters on site first, for free to someone who didn't get their limit. They donate any meat that isn't claimed. It's illegal in most states to sell hunted meat.

I know one person that was a big game hunter, who was a DA in California and he hunted in Africa. He was only in it for the trophy heat for his wall. He didn't hunt in the USA. But he's the only person I've ever known personally that was a trophy hunter. Even in the US, most people that may keep heads, also eat the meat. it's actually illegal in most states to just take the head and leave the edible meat.
