I have to wonder if this move is about helping more people feel better about getting vaccinated. I think there are some who feel that if they're not able to resume their lives/go places/see people like normal, what's the point of getting it.

@Pecky wrote:That is great news. How are we to know if they really have been vaccinated? People could say they are and aren't.
How will they know, you know that little white card you got when you were vaccinated, be prepared to carry it with you that's how they will know.
Once people get inside, what's to stop them from taking it off, nothing unless they start giving out bracelets like they used to do at hopping, crowded bars that charged a cover.....

The problem is that you can purchase a fake card.

I'm not vaccinated and will continue to wear the mask because I can. I have no issue with it especially during Flu season or when being in a crowded place. There are those who have never worn a mask so I'm sure they are thrilled. There are those who followed every rule and will now not have to wear it. To each their own on mask wearing. I'm not sure what the policy will be when school starts up for the Fall but I do hope they give students the option to wear it. Again, beyond covid, it's a great prevention for colds and the Flu which can also be a nasty thing to deal with.
I do have to say, IMHO, the CDC is just not a group I trust 100%. Therefore, even though they say you don't have to, I know many who are vaccinated (and feel the same way as I) who will be wearing their mask for a long time.

DH and I will continue to wear masks until WE feel safe to do otherwise. Trust for the CDC is non-existent.
The CDC is not your friend looking out for you...'follow the money'.
For anyone who thinks otherwise and really has trust for the CDC/CSPI on any level whatsoever, I recommend watching an almost 2 hour youtube video documentary called 'Fat Head'...
...completely...to the bitter end.
*Side note: The removal of horse blinders & rose colored glasses is required.

Last Friday I had a cable tech here (aarrghh) working which required going inside outside inside outside a few times. A couple days ago I had my irrigation (sprinklers) people here to get rolling for summer and had to spend time in the garage talking to him couple of times. In both cases I told them it was fine by me if they wanted to take their masks off. In both cases they said they HAD TO KEEP THEM ON, company rules.

Yes, people are still getting sick and dying, but at no where near The rates of last year. The rates of infection and death is going down and that's GOOD thing! That shows that the vaccine is working!
will it ever be zero? No, but neither are yearly flu infections and deaths.

@Jersey Born wrote:@Mindy D - I'm more concerned about reckless behavior from those who have been inoculated against COVID-19. A close friend just told me that her sister-in-law had a little party last weekend, and she only invited inoculated people to it. A couple of the people attending had cold symptoms, but still attended the party, thinking it couldn't possibly be from SARS-CoV-2 infection, and in truth, their symptoms might not have been from that virus at all. So, the people with symptoms claimed it was allergies causing them to sneeze and have runny noses at the party and they just didn't care about the other party attendees, none of whom wore masks except for my friend's mother, because she is elderly and still afraid of catching something even though she received two COVID shots. (My friend has not taken the shots, so she did not attend the party with her mother.) Now, the host of the party (my friend's brother's wife) is feeling very ill and has been in bed all week with some kind of bug, since Monday.
I think that once people think they are invincible, they will write off every single illness they contract, and pass whatever that illness is on to others. I wish this weren't true, but I think it is going to be the way things are from now on-- complete selfishness and denial of illnesses that could infect others-- in part due to the social deprivation they experienced for well over a year during this pandemic, which I cannot blame them for feeling, as I feel it, too. People are going to make up for lost time, even when they are not feeling well. I hope not too many people become sick from being around thoughtless people like that, though. Perhaps it is better, as these restrictions end, to be more cautious around others.
@Jersey Born , this post coming from someone who has posted more anti-vaccine information obtained from off beat sources, than anyone else on this board.

@Mindy D To that question I respectully ask...has there ever been any MASS infection from any store? Any infections from those big grocery stores? Nope if there was a great infection chance from them they would have been closed too. Do you know if everyone wears their mask all the time throughout the store? No you don't. Plenty of people cheat. They pull their mask down, they remove it for a few minutes. And it's been fine. It will be fine. And it will be safe. If you are 65 and older keep wearing your mask if it makes you feel better. But it really is time to let go of some of these restrictions. The infection rate/risk is far lower the younger you get. Obviously the CDC would not release their leash on everyone if they did not realize it is past time to be opening things up. The numbers are not there anymore. They aren't. For those that want this to continue until 2030...it can't happen. It's time to move on. Again, for those that are still worried or uncomfortable do what you need to, but there is no need for eveyone to be wearing masks. How do you know those people without masks are not survivors? And those that want to take the risk (which is minimal at this point in time) they can chose to do so. If they get sick it's on them. It's no longer your concern. It's past time for eveyone to be taking responsiblity for themself. We shut down the world when the data shows the 65 and older crowd should have been the ones that were sequestered. Everyone else should have been allowed to continue and fact is millions and millions of people did and they were fine. They did not miss a beat working through this and they were fine. Yes some people lost loved ones and friends, but again over 85% of those that passed were 65 and older. This virus likes certain immune deficiencies and once it finds them, it caplitalizes on them. The rest of the people are fine and have been fine.
