I bought a package of chopped salad yesterday at Costco. It has romaine lettuce from Salinas in it. I just learned this morning of the latest recall. So, I am going to return it and get my $6 back. I'm NOT just going to "throw it away".

@catwhisperer- Yeah, I always love it when they say "throw it away". I said to my DH "The he!! I would - I'd get my money back. How much do they make from people who just toss these things?"

@sidsmom- Thanks. I don't need any "news flash". I can research my own facts. They might not agree with yours.
Did you know cats cannot eat a pure vegetarian diet? I suppose they'll just have to become extinct, but not in my household and not in my lifetime. (And I'm not sending them outdoors to capture their own meat!)
We can agree to disagree. You won't change my mind; I won't change yours.

Giggle
What does the cats 'cannot eat a pure vegetarian diet'
have to do with documented statistics showing the meat
is on the decline? Even the Meat Industry is saying that.
Largest dairy farm going bankrupt...best news in 2019.
Facts are facts. People are waking up...finally.
Meat eaters & milk drinkers are ruining everything.

You said
<<Meat eaters & milk drinkers are ruining everything.>>
THAT statement is actually amusing.
Not exactly the type of words expected from a nutrition or environmental scientist.

@novamc1
They are ruining everything!
Ruining our beautiful produce & even ruining the food they eat.
(How many meat recalls?)
Medically speaking, animal consumption is making & keeping
Humans sick. It's just sad all around when there's no reason
to consume these products. But times are changing💚🌿👍

I love a raw green salad. Thankfully, my grocers has locally grown romaine. It looks very different from the Salinas variety.
I did get a refund for the Salinas romaine I had to throw out.

Am I the only one who thinks this is getting crazy?
How does this keep happening? It just doesn't make sense...that something like this keeps happening.
I don't understand how it happens in the first place; but it seems to happen frequently.
My guess is there are a lot (well maybe not a lot) but other food items we eat that have "issues" and we never know the difference. Maybe we feel like we're getting the flu and it passes.
I prefer iceberg lettuce to all other kinds of lettuce. I have to request the Romaine when I go to Paneras because they put a lot of stuff in there that looks to me like it's from my yard.
I'm not someone who knows the difference between 'healthy lettuce' and not healthy. At this point in my life I just like iceberg lettuce.
It's more difficult than ever to find it at restaurants these days.

I stick with iceberg at all times. It's crunchy and delish and yummy. I hate ordering salad from a restaurant and I am brought a "salad" containing greens that look like someone went out back and picked weeds out of the yard. Ew!!

I remember the first time I ate in a "fancy" steakhouse, and we were served the wedge salad. That goes back a long way, and I've seen food shows reviving it.
