Poet, Lincoln biographer, multiple Pulitzer Prize recipient, was born on January 6, 1878.
I've always liked the dreamy imagery of "Fog".

Wow, I've always heard of him and his work but never knew what he looked like or when he was born. Thank you for posting that! He looks amazing. You sound like an ecletic person!

When I was a junior in high school, we spent a semester studying American poets. I loved Sandburg, Robert Frost, Theodore Roethke, and Lawrence Ferlinghetti!
"Fog" and " Chicago" were my favorite Sandburg poems.

Late DH and once thought if we ever adopted a gray kitty (ours were tabbies and tuxies) that Fog would be a perfect name for obvious reasons!
We also studied Sandburg in high school and love his works.

I remember he had a book called "A Coney Island of the Mind"....I thought that was such a cool title! When my ex was in college n the late 70s, he got a chance to go hear Ferlinghetti in one of his classes. He didn't have a clue....was just taking a required class....but I remember being very jealous!!

Hey, thank you, @77yangya , I will try to start thinking of myself as 'eclectic', ha.
@just bee, what a lovely and apt kitty image-- you curate only the best!
You're right, @Love my grandkids , "Fog" is the perfect name for a soft gray kitty. We've only had tabbies, tuxedos and tortoiseshell indoor cats ourselves, but we fed a feral kitty for years who was a rich, sooty gray and whom we dubbed "Charcoal"....
@alicedeeand @shoekitty , you have boho tastes!
