I used to only use a local mechanic. But, after buying a brand I'd never owned before, Lincoln, they didn't have the parts for it. I'll never own another brand like this again. Parts cost too much, so does the service.
Just out of curiosity, couldn't the local mechanic order the parts? It would just take longer to fix.
To be honest, yes, I'm sure he could. After this ordeal I'm going back to him too. I kinda felt bad for having used the dealership the last few years, but I'm past that now. Besides, my dad still takes his old jeep to him. I guess I just got used to taking it to the dealer at first. Things sure were different whenever it was still under warranty lol.

Sorry you had to deal with that today. I would of let them have it putting the part on the wrong door?
If they did that to me they would not be ordering another part. I would tell them to take it off the driver door & install it on the passenger door like I asked you. I would not pay for the labor either?
If they told me an hour & it took 6 I would be saying something to them.

I did let him have it over the time! When I asked about the sensor still being on, he laid it all on the mechanic. He said he wrote the work order up correctly, but the mechanic had remembered reading an recall from a few years ago regarding the drivers door sensor. When I asked if it could be switched is when he told me they were door specific. So, a left one would have to be ordered lol. Sounds like a big load of B S to me!

Sorry your going through that, car troubles are the worst. I agree they should give you a loaner.

@cheriere I can relate. We have also bought a car or two on a whim. We are getting smarter as we get older though. There will be no rash vehicle purhcases in this household again! Good luck with your next car!

Car trouble is the worst! I am so sorry you are dealng with this; it wears you out! The biggest problems I had were at the dealer. I finally found an indpendent place run by two brothers who used to work at my dealer....they are cheaper, faster, and fix it perfectly, It seems your dealer should put in the second sensor for free since you already paid for one you didn't need. You should owe them nothing if and when they replace the correct sensor. I can't imagine why your were charged so much...surely an oil change doesn't require that much labor and DH said replacing a sensor requires almost no time at all, depending upon your make and model. Sounds like they may owe you some money.

@cheriere I am so sorry this happened to you.
That said, @Love the Au and Ag I completely agree with you...Very well said
There is no way cheriere should have to pay for something that she didn't request that was a mistake on the dealer's part. ![]()

You described EXACTLY how this dealership looks, absolutely zero brand new cars and very few of what they had! I'll never buy a Lincoln again! Every part costs at least twice as much and so does the labor!
I feel terrible for your husband having to deal with that. Sounds like we have about the same luck!
Get this, I bought two new tires awhile back and hadn't had them no time whenever one blew out on the interstate. The tire place showed me a tiny wrench that had been inside of the tire since manufacturing! Who does this happen to?
Are you kidding me? That is so scary. I am glad you are OK. Wonder if that happens more than we know. And the fact the tire blew out would it be noticed that a tiny wrench was left in the tire. You would think with the blow out, the wrench might fly out and never be noticed.
You don't seem to have much luck. Hope things have to turn around.
PS My sister-in-law "on a whim" she bought a Mercedes. Last I heard, she was waiting 14 weeks for new tires.

It sure is the worst. I'm really glad you asked your husband about that sensor be my dad thought the same thing. I'm gonna take him back up there with me.
