Has anyone ever run into a company indicating a charge would protect delivery of an item.  I did get free shipping but I've never had a company charge 2.95 (which I took off) to protect delivery.  So with that and tax it's another $6.  Would you pay it?

I have paid that more than once. I don't remember what I was buying? Had to be something more expensive since I wasn't willing to be out that money.

I think I paid that because the package wasn't insured so I was responsible so I paid it. Must be the cost for the insurance.

@kismet

Just ordered another case of food safe gloves from Great Gloves to use in the kitchen. I paid $1.55 in case of loss, damage etc. Have paid this with each order.

@kismet.  Yes, I haven't heard it worded like that but I've often seen an additional fee for insurance.  That's when I lose interest in the item and move on.

No, i wouldn't pay it.

@kismet  a company indicating a charge would protect delivery of an item

I would have asked them how?  Armed guard(s)?  Secret Service?  Brink armed truck?  Bullet proof Uber or Lyft, etc.

I ordered from Goat Milk Stuff in the past and had to pay that fee. Not sure if they still charge it

Yes, I've seen that with certain websites that I ordered from and unchecked that extra fee. I think it is for in case your item gets lost or stolen it will be covered. I wonder what will happen if unchecked, would the company replace the item if lost or stolen.

I've seen it when I ordered checks.  I didn't pay it. The checks came to me just fine.

I've never heard it worded like that either but I have had an insurance offered to me for a similar cost. Depends on what I'm buying as to whether I would pay it or not.
