While the OP's friend isn't in the same league, if not for rule/law breakers we'd still be British subjects, there would have been no Underground Railroad...

It's not the same thing at all. The reason for breaking the rule/law makes all the difference. This friend hasn't done any of these things for any reason other than to be sure she gets what she wants when she wants it.
Her motivation was only to make things better for herself, not for the common good and not to fight injustice. She's acting purely selfishly when she does those things. It's not comparable at all.

She was looking out for the welfare of her dog, I'd do the same. Anyone of us who claims to have never bent the rules to benefit ourselves, never acted less than honorably is delusional.

Of course many people sometimes bend the rules, but she does those kinds of things all the time. And she brags about it. She flaunts what she does, with no remorse at all. Over and over.
That kind of selfish "the rules don't apply to me, I'll do what I want" mentality has absolutely nothing to do with the examples you mentioned in the post I was responding to.

While I haven't broken any of the rules that you have discussed I can't see how it would make me a better person if I dropped the friendships of people that did these things.I believe that none of us are without our own sins and I try not to judge.Consecuenses need to fit the crime.

I agree that as far as we know HC's friend is only benefiting herself and her dog. The point I was trying to make, and apparently failed to do, was that she is just the sort of person who would join those involved in righting a wrong, bending/breaking the law, if called upon to do so.
HC has not listed anything this friend does that harms others. She cuts corners and, from what has been posted, is now finding out that her son did her no favors because she is lost and, I imagine, frustrated.
I know she is someone who could be gotten out of bed in the middle of the night to bail her friend out of jail and instead of giving a lecture, find something amusing about the whole thing.
What I'm trying to say is she is my kind of friend, not too perfect, not judgemental, and can be counted upon.

I'm not sure how you can jump to conclusions like that. I definitely don't get that vibe at all.
And the kinds of things she does absolutely can cause harm to others. I addressed that in a previous post.
I'm done going round & round though. I've expressed my thoughts several times here already, and my opinion has stayed the same. Better to just agree to disagree.

And then there is the EMT person who broke the rule to try to save a dying child...sometimes rules need to be broken for the greater good.
