I can actually say someone I am very close to, actually was home when someone successfully broke through the door. The person I knew pointed a gun at the thief, never said a word, but never pulled the trigger. The thief saw it and might still be running in the opposite direction for all I know. He was granted a chance to live and perhaps even mend his ways. We'll never know.
