Re: Bryan Kohberger indicted for murder.

Lots of countries left off that list. My understanding according to Amnesty International is that there are currently 56 countries known to have the death penalty available as an option.

Indonesia has been know to invoke it in drug related cases.

I know,.....no evidence suggesting this.

But, still.........it's been on my mind.

@ROMARY  Interesting pov because when this happened there had been some speculation he was not alone.

First we discussed someone hearing him saying "I'll help you" and then when he was arrested asking "Was anyone else arrested?"

I don't know if either statements were ever verified.

The evidence has certainly been enough for his arrest and indictment so we will have to see if anything else comes up during the trial.

I read that one of Kohbergers professors was an expert on serial killers with a particular interest in Dennis Rader/BTK. Rader was also a criminal justice major but dropped out and went into the military. When he was arrested he also made the statement" Was anyone else arrested? He thought it would be handy for creating doubt. Finally he plead guilty and confessed so no trial.

@tiny 2  Thank you. I didn't know Rader made that statement. Interesting. I wonder if Kohberger was an ardent follower of serial killers.

Re: Bryan Kohberger indicted for murder.

I can't imagine how the judge will be able to put a gag order on the family members of these college students who were so brutally murdered. Why shouldn't they be able to talk about their child and how wonderful they were? How many dreams and future plans were lost? I don't think the family should be included in the gag order, but I understand the thinking behind it...am guessing the family members will abide by it, lest it help the murderer in some way by saying they tainted the jury pool or something.

Re: Bryan Kohberger indicted for murder.

I have also wondered about outside help, but this guy seems like such a loner, I can't imagine he would trust anyone enough to include them in such a heinous crime, unless he killed them to keep them quiet.

There is so much evidence and info we don't know about this case, it will be interesting to see how much we never knew until it is introduced at the trial. I hope they can do the trial without dragging it out for years....they owe the family that much.

@Trailrun23 family members are free to talk about their children. They are not permitted to discuss the case.

@Trailrun23  I hear what you are saying but it is possible that the sympathy factor could influence a jury decision.  I know it would be very difficult for me to not be heartbroken by such statements and as most folks are-it will be difficult I think to disregard the humanity of the victims and families.

Not all families spoke out either early on I believe. Somebody correct me if I am wrong about that fact.

We just don't know what they might say or even if they have some other evidence being investigated but not disclosed yet.

What a tragedy regardless of the gag order. I am sure it is for the best for the families right now.

[ Edited ]

What I'd like to know is, WHY did he do that?

ETA; I'm guessing that Idaho (or was it Montana?) added execution by firing squad as a concession to their Mormon population, which is large in this  part of the country.

Mormon teaching is that some sins are so heinous that they be forgiven only by shedding the blood of the sinner (I don't subscribe to this belief). And gunfire is the most efficient method of bringing this about.

@Trailrun23

I read that 20,000 pieces of evidence has been turned over to the defense from the prosecutor. It will probably be lengthy.
