Bruises on Dogs

I just discovered a large bruise on the chest of my other newly adopted pup. The hair appears to have been rubbed off and has begun growing back. I took her to the Vet yesterday, and she doesn't know what caused it, but gave me ointment to apply twice a day. She had thought maybe parasites, but tested negative. Has anyone else had a dog with an unexplained bruise? I googled, but my pup has no symptoms associated with bruises. I thought maybe the other pup bit her while playing, but that wouldn't have caused the bare spot she has.
