Bringing your faith into the item presentation

I don't care if you're really into your religion. I don't think it has any place on QVC. Leave your faith out of the presentation. Do you really need to flaunt a huge cross every day you're on the air? Tired of people using religion to sell. I don't want to hear sad stories either.

Seriously? They are crosses and they sell them. We all know what they represent, so if you don't need one, don't purchase it. QVC also sells an Audio Bible. Do you have a problem with that also? The host you are berating wears that cross frequently and it's not a crime, at least in this country.

Some people wear crosses not for religious reasons.

I wear a Celtic cross or a St. Brigid's cross because I like them.

Re: Bringing your faith into the item presentation

Are you serious? The fact that a sales host wears a cross may or may not indicate anything about personal faith; some people wear crosses simply as fashion jewelry. If a person is religious or "spiritual" and wears a cross (or a Star of David, an ankh, a star and crescent, or some other faith symbol), it is a statement about their beliefs, not an indication that you are being pressured to adopt the same beliefs. If someone makes a passing comment about their faith, perhaps in selling an item with religious significance (QVC does sell such items for those who are interested) or in chatting with a live caller, so what? Ignore it or change the channel if you must. I am puzzled as to why other peoples' religious beliefs should trouble or offend you. Let them be.

I've always wondered what The Almighty thinks of being used as a marketing ploy. Now that's really taking His name in vain!

Re: Bringing your faith into the item presentation

I've watched QVC for a few years now. During that time, they occasionally would sell a cross or two. It was all done without any "fanfare" (for lack of a more appropriate term), but the host was still able to sell the items. It seems that ever since one of the hosts brought her ring, and subsequently had a tragedy in her life, that more and more religious-type jewelry is being presented. And the presentations (especially hers) have become more than I feel is appropriate for a shopping channel. I have my own faith and wear my own meaningful jewelry without having any discussion with others about its meaning. I don't know why the hosts can't do the same.

It's my viewpoint. I guess you have a problem with my expressing it. Don't mind if you disagree with me. I didn't ask for opinions.
