She spied for the Allies in World War II, gathering info on Nazi rocketry from German customers of the firm she worked for, who were eager to impress the seemingly wide-eyed young French woman... Of course she spoke perfect German, which helped immensely in her efforts.
Her career in espionage began almost casually, but she saved countless lives, suffered many misadventures and near-misses, and was arrested by the Gestapo and placed in a total of three different concentration camps for her activities. She was rescued near-death by the Swedish Red Cross close to the end of the war.
Nevertheless, she was modest and considered herself a small cog in the War effort! This is the stuff genuine heroes are made of.

I can't imagine the courage it took to do what she and the many other spies and resistance fighters did during that terrible time. May she rest in peace.
