There was a story about a couple who wanted their wedding guests to bring 10 pounds of food to donate to a local food bank instead of bringing gifts. This couple stated that they each had already established lives and didn't need any gifts that a newly starting out couple might need. They are also not going on a honeymoon; they would rather reach some goals first. They have done charity work on a smaller scale and thought their wedding would be a great oportunity to get other people into a giving spirit if even for one day.
I thought this was a great idea and I hope all their guests comply with their wishes. If each guest brings in the ten pounds of food, there will be a ton of food going to the food bank.
