Bought a new laptop after my Pink Screen fiasco !

So many may remember a few days ago my laptop screen turned pink and the letters turned green and then I had pink stripes on the screen and I could hardly find the pointer because it turned white and I kept losing it on the white background. It was crazy ! I researched the issue in settings but nothing corrected the problem. So I bought a new Laptop now I'm trying to get used to it, my numbers are now above the letters instead of along side of the letters (right side) and I'm trying to download the Amazon app and a few others. It's a HP laptop,  No more pink and green screen !!!

@Goodie2shoes - Sometimes it's just better to go with new!  Enjoy.

(I did wonder, if the issue with your old laptop was the graphics card.  But you could've replaced that and still had the problem.)

BEFORE I even "look" at a computer, I tell the sales associate that I MUST have one with a 10-key pad on the right-hand side...

Good choice. I love HP products. My last desktop monitor lasted 15 years before it started going crazy with all the colors.

Enjoy your new laptop.

Your new one sounds nice @Goodie2shoes! I always had an HP until my family gave me a Mac Pro for Christmas a few years ago. I'm still figuring out how to use it!

I recently bought an Acer after having a Dell for 10 years. Pretty much the same, I think, though I only do basic stuff. Both had #'s on the top and on the right. I use the ones on top.

@beach-mom Macs are so easy to use I have had one model or another for over 30 years

Re: Bought a new laptop after my Pink Screen fiasco !

You could check things AI says to see if you can fix your old laptop.

If you get it to work & don't want or need it you could donate it.

If your laptop screen is displaying pink stripes or a pink tint with green text, it likely indicates a problem with the display's color settings or a potential hardware issue with the LCD panel itself, possibly due to damage or a loose connection, causing incorrect color interpretation on the screen.

Possible causes:
  • Incorrect color settings:
Check your display settings on your operating system to see if the color profile is set incorrectly, potentially causing a color shift.

  • Color space mismatch:
If you're connecting to an external display with different color space settings, it could result in unusual colors on your laptop screen.

  • Faulty graphics card driver:
Outdated or incompatible graphics card drivers can lead to display issues like color distortion.

  • Damaged LCD panel:
Physical damage to the LCD panel, like a cracked screen or a loose internal connection, can cause color irregularities.

  • Faulty display cable:
A damaged or loose display cable connecting the motherboard to the screen could also contribute to color problems.

What to try:
  • Adjust color settings:
Go to your display settings and try adjusting the color temperature, gamma, and other color settings to see if you can correct the issue.

  • Update graphics drivers:
Check for and install the latest graphics card drivers from your manufacturer's website.

  • Check for loose connections:
Carefully inspect the connection between the display cable and the laptop, ensuring it is properly plugged in.

  • Calibrate your display:
Use your operating system's built-in display calibration tool to fine-tune the colors.

  • Test with an external display:
Connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the issue persists, helping to isolate whether the problem lies with the laptop's internal display or the graphics card.

When to seek professional help:
  • Visible screen damage:
If your screen has visible cracks or other damage, it might require a professional repair to replace the LCD panel.

  • No improvement with software changes:
If adjusting color settings and updating drivers doesn't resolve the issue, it's best to consult a technician to diagnose the problem further.
