Sydney, I am aware that solitary confinement is for the inmate's protection. That's another reason why I do not want this animal to be kept in that manner for life. He doesn't even deserve that. Also, I don't want to see one dime of taxpayer money spent to keep him alive for even one day.
Vicious? Hardly. Why have the death penalty if we do not intend to use it? What crime could be more heinous than this one? He sat a bomb next to a child for goodness sake! He terrorized a community for several days and brought a city to it's knees. He wanted that and now it's time to make him pay, with his life.

I understand, the question about the purpose of solitary confinement was brought up earlier by someone. Frankly, the tax payer is on the hook either way as death penalty usually triggers an automatic appeal under most circumstances. Personally I always wondered why people like Mafia heads who destroy their communities and murder for decades aren't on death row. That puzzles me.

Apparently some here do not understand that solitary confinement is no picnic. Alone, except for when prison guards are performing their duties around you. No one to talk to, and I assume, but don't know for sure, no social media, phone, television, etc. Perhaps some reading matter is provided, but the descriptions I have seen indicate no real interaction with anyone else. The idea that solitary is the cushy good life is a misnomer. Death comes quickly, unless there is a glitch, in an execution. Life imprisonment, no parole, is long and drawn out, and you never escape yourself. Execution may satisfy some people's blood lust for revenge, but it only happens once. If it happens in this case, you better savor it, because you can't re execute someone beyond the one time.

We still have the death penalty because of people like you. The blood thirsty among us.
Try a bit of objectivity, he is only 19 and was under the influence of his crazy brother and whacko mother.

This guy will no doubt end up at one of the supermax prisons like the ADX Florence that is in Colorado. It holds some of the most well known foreign and domestic terrorists and it was built to not only make it virtually escape proof but also inflict "misery and pain" as Eric Rudolph said of it. There have been many stories written about this prison and many suits filed in regards to the cruel and unusual punishment here. Known as ADX, and nicknamed the "Alcatraz of the Rockies," this is among the most secure prisons in the world—and one of the most isolating: Many of its cells, fashioned out of poured concrete with solid steel doors, are equipped with built-in showers and automated chutes that open onto private concrete "exercise yards," such that occupants need never see a guard or fellow prisoner—much less a visitor. One former warden interviewed by 60 Minutes called it "pretty close" to he ll. It is consistently listed in the top 5 of the worst prisons in the US. I think this is a good place for him, while there maybe many other Muslim terrorists there he won't see any of them and can go weeks and weeks without seeing even a guard.

No better than the evil doers?
Anybody here making comments about this situation have never murdered, or maimed anybody. I think you might want to rethink that comment.

They should put him in Gen-Pop and let them have at him. When they are done, drag him to the needle. I know it won't happen but it would be true justice.

The fact he put that backpack behind the little boy..well, he should get the same! I would never be able to function if I was a parent after that!
