I thought of ankle socks, I've always been uncomfortable in boots rubbing my bare ankles, or showing a skin gap between boots and pants.  Brrrrrr.

It looks awful. Not a good look.

I would never wear boots without socks.

Or, for that matter, any closed-in shoe.

I think it makes for stinky feet.

The only time I go without socks or hose is when I'm wearing sandals or flip flops.

I don't like the way bare feet feel in shoes, etc.

Wearing any closed shoe without some type of 'sock', hose, etc. is a great way to get foot fungus i.e., athlete's foot. Fungus, bacteria thrive in a warm, moist environment.   Nail fungus is another problem &  is very, very difficult to get rid of. My experience. Take it or leave it. It's your feet.

@ahoymate- you are absolutely right especially Uggs.  I had extensive foot surgery and my surgeon is a leading specialist at Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC.  It was a very cold day and I had socks on with Uggs; I was so happy after the long time in the surgical boots  ....he came into the room and delivered a lecture when he saw my boots....He said Uggs offer no support and how  moisture is held in the lambswool and promotes the development of fungus.  He asked if I just wore my boots back and forth and I do...he stressed how Uggs should not be worn all day, indoors, warm weather and without absorbant socks; he also added they stink after a while.   Dr. D said when he sees Uggs, he sees red....he didn't go into other boots.  I still love my Uggs but wear them in winter, with socks and outdoors only.   I really don't get the fashion statement of wearing boots all year round unless your climate is cold.  I love getting into sandals after a long cold winter and boots in summer holds no appeal for me.

Not into commando anything LOL!  I wear socks in all types of closed in shoes/boots.  Feet sweat alot...has nothing to do with showering....all of us sweat thur our feet ...I like to have something that I can WASH to kill that sweat/bacteria daily during the winter months when I am not wearing sandals.

I generally wear some sort of thin ped with ankle boots, but of course, if they are peep toe, I don't wear anything (on my feet that is.)Woman LOL

Even in the dead of winter I prefer a very thin sock.  Like another poster said, thick socks make my piggies feel claustrophobic. Woman Tongue

I always wear a thin sock with boots.

I much prefer sandals.  I hate the feeling of being trapped in a boot or a closed show.  The only exception is a gym shoe.
