As a computeraholic (guilty, as charged) since 1997 when I was undergoing chemotherapy and explored the digital world (whirl) as a diversion to nausea, I'm not an e-book devotee!

For me, it's books with pages...not a screen...books with pages I can underline, fold over corners of (my own), and feel! As author Carlos Ruiz Zaron reflected; books have soul!

I downloaded Amazon.com's kindle version on my laptop, read a book, and still wasn't convinced - mainly perhaps - because I'm at home 98% of the time, and when I'm out, I'll take a couple of magazines...as to a doctor's appointment...in my tote, to catch up read my subscriptions...again in good ol' page turnin' format. I don't like the screen effect on my vision, for one thing, but that's almost minimal against the backdrop of missing pages I love to caress and manipulate!

My current best three reads are:

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer. It's a most charming read...unusual letter exchange format. A book club selection here in my senior apartment complex.

An exciting read, I'm in the midst of now...

SHIP of GOLD in the Deep Blue Sea, authored by Gary Kinker. Fabulous, exciting, amazing (you get the picture) read! It's one of my (two) book club selections.

Waiting in the wings (ok, in my bed) is one recommended by a table mate at a book club meeting as we discussed Spain;

THE ANGEL'S GAME, by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I'm very excited about this read after enjoying (devouring) Amazon.com's editorial and reader reviews! He expressed my long held concept that books have souls...another reason why I don't like digital books...who ever heard of a digitalized soul? Puleeze! Regardless, his genre is unique!
