Book publishers, legitimate ones?

I am wondering if anyone knows of a legitimate book publisher. My husband is writing his first book about our cats (he started it when we lost one of our cats the end of last year to cancer and its not finished yet). He wants to get it published. As in, not for sale to the public, but for us to have. (Although I think its so good so far, from what I read, he should publish it for sale). He was looking online but I worry we will get ripped off web searching for publishers. (we are on unfamiliar territory). TIA.
