Marsha2003 said "I'm certainly enjoying reading all of the perspectives on this thread". So am I, and I think the idea of the "community experience" of discussing a book sort of links back to a concept of the oral tradition where we shared our stories around the tribal campfire. Until I became part of a Book Club (and then found this Forum on QVC) my experiences of a book were strictly between me and the author! It's been enlightening to see how different the experiences of other readers have been about the same books -- not to mention occasionally maddening!

I have been in a book club for more than 20 years and to me the wonderful thing is that I have read so many things I would never have read and had so many discussions that brought new attitudes and ideas to me! I may HATE the book but I always learn something in the process. Learning is far better than liking the book!

My sentiments exactly! What a wonderful thing to be in a book club for 20 years! Smiley Happy
