I agree what was the hold up on that decision? We are going on vacation in a few weeks and I said this morning to DH if it’s that plane I’m not going.

2 different pilots on 2 different airlines on 2 different dates brought down these planes in the same manner? The common denominator here is the plane 737 Max 8. Who in their right mind wants to get on a plane that has an auto pilot that points the nose down shortly after take off and the only way to control the plane is for the pilots to act in a split second to turn offf the auto pilot and attempt to stabilize the plane before it crashes? Not I.

In this case not really. US was one of the last to ground the planes. China, the EU, Australia, GB, and Mexico had already grounded.

@50Mickey Then don't! I don't blame you. But whatever brought these 2 planes down (in different countries than the US) will be investigated, reviewed and dealt with but until then it's speculation.

i would have been more worried had the pilots banded together and refused to fly them.
but we'll find out what the problem is - and i suspect the airlines needed this lead time to plan how to cope with this without disrupting the nation.

And then Canada. So the US was the only North American country hold-out.
