I'm a female (as I think are at least 95 percent of us). I don't overuse punctuation and my avatar is a male....but with a feminine looking hat.

It it seems to me, that the males who post here, have been upfront in saying so.

I can't imagine anything less important than that. I don't care. I log on every few days to see what people are talking about, but I don't even look at their names! Does anyone pay attention to the made-up names of anonymous posters? I certainly don't use my real name!

Since you brought up Anonymous, why are so many product reviews written by Anonymous?

LOL!

I don't spend any time at all wondering the gender of the other posters.

@shell garden  Now you are also, like @Bri36, completely misinterpreting the point of this thread.   I don't care either whether someone reveals his or her gender.  It's trying to come across as the opposite gender from his / her true one that is the issue.  Not whether gender is revealed!

Lying /misleading others is just wrong. So lying/misleading about one's gender is the problem.   Not mentioning it at all is no problem.

@Pearlee....suga.  Let me see if I can explain it a little better.

I DON'T CARE!

If they want to lie or mislead anyone here, that is their problem!  I don't take things too seriously here and I certainly don't stay up at night wondering who or if someone is telling the truth about anything.

LIFE IS TOO SHORT......Next thread, please, lol.

@shell garden  Well you care enough to be shouting at me.  Sheesh.

@Pearlee....lol, I don't mean to shout at you.  But, I did understand your thread in the first place.

So if you feel someone is lying about their gender, what are you going to do about it?

@Bri36 Well, I started this thread that's what I did  about it..   What to do you think?  Nothing.  I'm not a moderator.  I'm not even suggesting doing anything about it. Why would you even ask?

Cat Tongue

If you are addressing me, I'm Pearley.

And I don't know what on earth prompts you to even ask that. That's not what this thread is about at all.  Clearly I am who I say I am and if you don't think so.....that's your problem.

Oh the irony LOL

Well of course it matters.  It always matters to me if someone lies, or tries in any way to be something he or she isn't.   Besides, I don't like people trying to pull the wool over my eyes so to speak.   Who does?  That's why it matters and I have trouble understanding why it wouln't.

In real life, with friends, families, neighbors, co-workers, yes.  But this is the internet, and it's wise to be somewhat anonymous and to protect our true identities.

I'm female, and I've represented myself as such.  But I have occasionally and intentionally been vague/misleading about the amount of children I have, their ages, and genders.  That's my comfort level, and the actual details do not in any way impact anyone here.

I have no problem with anonymous posters on a forum not being 100% truthful.  As long as it's not something potentially damaging (for example, a poster lying about being a surgeon, and giving medical advice), I don't really care if someone is male or female, or if they claim to live in one town but actually live two towns over.

In forums like these, it's always best to be cautious.  And to take a whole lot of what people say with a grain of salt.
