It seems like somewhere along the way orchestra was added?

@qualitygal  I had not heard this before.  Wow.  Just WOW.  I literally broke out in chills from head to toe.  Thank you so much for posting.

I love this version as well as the original.  My skating coach introduced me to it.

Re: Blown away by this music: Disturbed group

I mentioned this version here in recent years because it blew me away, too!  Smiley Happy

A friend from another (unrelated) board told me about this version

I am a HUGE S&G fan and absolutely love the original.  But I love this version as much, in a different way.  It's stunningly, intensely, beautiful and I'm glad more and more people are hearing it.

I'd never heard of this band before this and, actually, haven't heard any of their other music.   I'm not drawn to heavy metal.

I bought the song for my iPod, so I have both versions.  Smiley Happy

The first time I heard this was when they played it on an episode of "The Blacklist".  It brought me to tears.  So much more dynamic and touching than S&G's version.  Do not like heavy metal music at all but I bought the Disturbed album just to hear this song.

A heavy metal band doing the Sounds of Silence?  I just cant imagine.

That was done by Simon and Garfunkle in the 60's.  A very mellow soft song.

Re: Blown away by this music: Disturbed group

I am a big fan of Disturbed. (yes I am "down with the sickness").I love their cover of Sound of Silence.

Many rockers think Disturbed has "sold out" by doing covers. I don't feel that way. David's voice is so beautiful and I think it is perfect for many of the songs the band has covered.

Another one of my favorite Disturbed covers is Sting's "If I ever lose my faith in you". Beautiful rendition.

@LTT1  The Disturbed cover had strings and a kettle drum. I don't remember anything other than Paul Simon on the guitar in the original version, but it's been a while.
