@eddyandme    No, the plains are on the Eastern side of the state.  I thought Demi Moore lived in Idaho.  Never heard of her hanging out in NM.

I have no idea @Kachina624 .  This was years ago:  she was still married to forgot his name, her first husband then.  Never paid that much attention, just was shocked that it would be cold in NM and he was a rancher.

@eddyandme    I've lived here 21 years, and it has been as cold as -14°.  I live in the desert outside of Albuquerque.  Yes, it can get darn cold.  It's never warm in the winter as Phoenix is.  We're at the same altitude as Denver.

I didn't realize you were that high up!!!!  So your weather can be somewhat closer to NE but not quite as harsh!  Sounds like a good place to live.  Never been out west though always wanted to see this beautiful country...

Ah, the Big Snow of '67.  I was seven, living in Rogers Park, and some of the snow drifts were taller than me.

If I weren't here and hadn't seen it, I wouldn't believe it.  The picture on the left was taken about 6:30am.  It snowed 2-3 inches.  The one on the right of the same scene about noon.  It was in the 30s so it didn't just melt; its so dry here in the desert that it evaporates.  This is in the Albuquerque area.  We get to enjoy a snowfall without inconvenience.

Yes.  The day after we washed all the filth from the previous blizzard off my car and our garage floor.

Hope this was our "throwback" week.  (But it was pretty.  You should have seen all the snow when I left work that morning.)

@just bee    I hear the coming days will be really windy culminating in another colder, storm mid week.  Seems like this whole winter has been unusually windy.  Imagine what Spring will be like.

@Kachina624

I have a friend who lives in La Junta, CO and one year the wind was so bad that her house was engulfed in tumbleweeds. You couldn't even see the house. It looked like a huge mountain of tumbleweeds. They had to call for help and use a bulldozer to remove them. The following year they had a big grass fire and that took care of the problem for a while.
