I have been seeing some black almost oily looking gunk coming from the sinks in my home. Example, I filled a bucket today in the kitchen sink, and it was stuck to the sides of the plastic bucket. It is all of the sinks, and my washer. Anyone ever have this? We are on city water.

I was just thinking that if she is the path of the California storm, that maybe the city water pumps were overwhelmed with the rain, and dirt/mud got in to it.

I don't know, I was just trying to think of a possible reason as to the sludge.

If it's only when you use hot water, it could be your water heater?

Otherwise, I wondered (as Noel asked) if there's fracking in the area.
