Bizarre phone experience

I had the weirdest thing happen the other day. I had been out shopping - had phone in purse. Came home and getting ready to make a phone call. My phone asked me to set it up again (I have a Tracfone). I thought this was strange. Then when I went to make a call, ALL of my contacts were gone, all of my apps missing on my phone. Is there a device someone can use by walking by you to take all of your information from your phone? (Luckily I had written down all of my contact info just a few days before because I had ordered the new Tracfone from HSN and ended up sending it back because people were saying they couldn't get their 1350 free minutes).

There are applications that can steal phone data. Not saying this happened.

I don't know, but off of the top of my head, I would guess maybe your battery compleatly drained?

Did you walk by any store security systems that might use magnets?

Can magnets even wipe a phones memory?

I don't know.

I'm sorry that I am of no help, but this is what came in to my mind.

That would be quite disconcerting. I'd contact Tracfone, hoping they'd be able to shed some light on the situation.

I have no experience with this. It does sound like you went by something or someone and your phone memory was erased. When I've switched to a new tracfone, everything stayed on the old phone until I deleted it.

@hoosieroriginal, I would also contact Tracfone immediately,and I agree hope they can shed some light on this situation. Please let us know the outcome!

@hoosieroriginal- I know you said you had your contacts but the carrier companies do keep backups and can retrieve your information. I had that happen but not after a phone call and Verizon assisted me.

@hoosieroriginal, do a google search - perhaps "contacts and apps disappeared from Tracfone". Try various terms. I did a quick look and this has happened to others.
