Birthing room attendees . . . is there a limit to who is appropriate?

20 year-old unmarried mother. She's a very beautiful but promiscuous young woman who doesn't know who the father is. Her great uncle (70 years old) has always been "a little too interested" in her. She just had a baby and he was in the birthing room with her, next to her bed, holding her hand throughout ten hours of labor and the birth. Her family was fine with it, she was fine with it. He had apparently taken her "under his wing" throughout the pregnancy. These people are very close relatives of mine.

I find it appalling and more, but I won't go into the adjectives. Is that because I am old and out of touch with today's practices, or is there something wrong with this picture?
