In new Mexico, gusts in Albuquerque 60mph, worse in Eastern Plains.  We get horrible winds and blowing dust the the Spring.  I opened the front door this morning and felt like I might become airborne. Same for tomorrow.

@Kachina624  Do you get dust devils there, too?

Have you seen one or have you ever been caught in one?

We had them in the West. I got caught in a dust devil on my way to my parents' house; I couldn't see a thing. I could hear the gritty sand hitting the car. Scary. It was like a really dense tan fog with big wind, and paper & small weeds were swirling with it.

Years later, I saw one ahead of me on the way home from work. I turned around & we had coffee at Target's Starbucks until it was gone.

@Kachina624   We currently have 2 weather warnings up for tomorrow here in Lincoln, Nebraska. One is a high wind warning that says gust will be around 70+ miles an hour (near hurricane strength) and a blizzard warning.

Oy.

@Desert Lily.  I know you must be familiar with life in the Southwest.  I've heard about dust devils but never experienced one.  I start sneezing during the big blows and try to stay inside.

Yikes,  take care. That sounds just too scary. My granddaughter went through the Santa Ana's  at 100mph when she was in college. She tried to make it from class when they started to dorm where they were sequestered for a few days. She was lifted into air for a bit, he friends held her down .  They made it barely. But palm trees were uprooted and were in air.  It was something else. I think this was in 2008

We get those nasty high winds (the last few days in fact), dust storms that sand blast everything and everyone and dust devils that down utility poles.

My heart goes out to others living in the Southwest Deserts. Plays havoc with allergies, traffic and life in general! Stay safe and indoors if possible everyone. ♥️🙏

Hope people stay off the road if they can, looks dangerous .It's predicted for us to get quite a bit of wind today in the Southeast.

Wind sure needs respect.  We had a brief event this week that took out my power and about 25 feet of fence.  Those limbs are big when they are airborne.  Still, more firewood.
