When the Q first started selling the small ones you place on the floor, plug in and hide, I purchased one. Within 36 hours my female Burmese cat developed asthma. I cannot begin to tell you what this amounted to, except to say that I had to give her very complicated asthma treatments at home and she would have very serious attacks that scared the heck out of us. We were blessed that she lived to be 21 years of age, before leaving us.

I'm very grateful for this thread.
After all, our dogs, cats, birds, and all pets cannot tell us how nauseous, and/or painful they are feeling.
Same with newborns babies/toddlers.
And, yes, pets' sense of smell is very keen.

According to Snopes, this same story was posted on FB in February, 2018 but with a picture of a different dog.
Not saying essential oils are good for animals but this story seems to be a retread and probably not true.

Thanks so much for the heads up on thes diffusers. I usually use one with cinnamon for Christmas and also own a west highland terrier. I do know from experience that I had an oil diffuser plug in and we had a sever e thunderstorm and lightning caused it to melt into the electrical plug itself. The electrician said we were lucky it did not burn our home down.

I use it in my foot bath, good for the nails.

What about Harry Slakin Candles, or Bath and body works?

I received an oil diffuser and set of like 8 or 10 oils from family members for Christmas last year. I knew the gift was a last minute choice and said thank you (because my mother raised me right). I sold the set on the facebook marketplace after looking at it in the box for nearly 8 months.
I live with birds. Bird have sensitive respiratory systems. When my bird life started in 2005 out went any real scented candles and any/all incense. I have renuzit solid air fresheners scattered about the house and that's about it.
You gotta be careful.

I use it in my shampoo, add to hand washing liquid, use in cleaning products.

What about the reed diffusers that are in a bottle? I have 3 of the apple cinnamon ones that smell so good but am now afraid to use them as I have a dog. Would appreciate any info about them, thanks. They are the Sonoma brand from Kohl's.

@FlowerBear Yes, unfortunately, well meaning people kill their birds because they don't know about sprays etc. that will kill a bird. Frabreeze will do it in a few seconds. I use unscented clothes detergent and like I said I clean with baking soda, water, blue dawn or vinegar. I have to be so careful.
