Beware: New Scam happened to an older friend of mine today!

He rec'd a call from a "bill collector" stating he had an outstanding debt. My friend is 75+ and explained to this caller he did not owe anyone any $$$. The caller stated it was from a "payday" loan his wife had taken (she is deceased) and now it was $2000 but he could pay $200 today via Greendot (at Walmart) and every week until it was paid off

and they would stop the WARRANT FOR HIS ARREST!

Thank God I was home and he called me!!! Now they certainly don't put one in jail for debt or 1/2 of Americans would be filling the jail system & 2) NEVER agree to send $$$.

We went to the Sheriff's office and tried to return the call to the # its a Cellphone and no answer -- we filed a complaint. The officer explained to us this transaction can't be traced when using GREENDOT because they encoded and go to out of the county.

Please keep this mind and share with others, esp. the elderly people you know! Thanks!
