It depends on what you're into.  NH has everything; lakes, mountains, and seashore.  Once you narrow it down it will be easier to make recommendations.

The "best" place to vacation in NH can't be answered.  NH is a great state to vacation in whatever the season, NH has it all.  If you are looking for vacation ideas, tell us what you are looking for.  What activities are you interested in, what would you like to do on this vacation?  How much do you want to spend?  How long will you be in NH?  Do you want to travel around the state or stay at one location?

The Lake Winnipesaukee area was a beautiful area. (I haven't been there in years)

 

Jimmy Fallon's daughter is named Winnie after the lake.

I would check out Trip Advisor. They have forums and you may get some great ideas.
