Always go to other people's funerals, otherwise they won't go to yours.

@deepwaterdotter,

That makes me think of something I learned that you cannot be the only thing or person that is someone elses happiness.It has to come from within too.

@on the bay That is absolutely positively true.  There are things beyond what any of us are able to do for someone.  I had to learn that the hard way.

How about we share, in just a short sentence or two, some of the best advice we ever got.  Woman Happy  I'm thinking of short "sound bites" that we can remember when we need them!

Like:

"You don't have to like her.  You just need to treat her like you do!"

but if you don't like her why not just leave her alone?

Because she could be your grandmother, mother-in-law, minister, child's school teacher, parole officer, service manager who gets your car fixed, insurance adjustor, next door neighbor, etc.

My parents never wanted me to grow up to feel entitled so they always told me that "you are special to us because you're our daughter but others in the world will not see you as special".  That always stayed with me throughout my life and kept me from feeling like the world owed me a living.

My dear father would say "you can do anything for eight hours" when I'd have a rough day at work.

I leaned on that saying for 38 years!

You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Manners matter more than money.
