I managed a medical office for over 20 years and marriage is really tested during an illness.  The person who has a major illness can really change.  Older people seem to work through it better but younger people have a hard time with it when their partner changes emotionally, sexually, or physically.

That's really sad. Sometimes serious stressors test a marriage. Some couples become stronger. Others fall apart under the pressure.
