I am not that way at all. I like to see many sides. I've read the articles too regarding those generations.
You can't presume what others think on here.
We can hopefully respectfully agree to disagree.
It can be a mutually enlightening discussion as long as everyone doesn't make it a back and forth against each other. I stated my opinion and you seemed to take offense at everything I posted. And you seemed to want the back and forth. I get your viewpoint, and acknowledged it also from many things I said, agreeing with that.
I don't feel you did the same, or wanted to see any other side.
I can see you have strong opinions about those generations from the articles and your experience.
But we'll move on ok?
@on the bay, I would bet that there has been negative opinions about every single generation. It's low-hanging fruit for lazy writers.

You know, you're right!
Look at the boomers!
All the negative things they said about us! Maybe the only ones who got by this were "The Greatest Generation." So many of parents❤️

There are lots of things going on that I have absolutely no control over.
I refuse to worry about things that I can't do anything about.

@on the bay, I think that "Greatest Generation" is surely an exaggeration based on the crises the country went through.

Having a good work ethic comes to play too🤔 The crisis is pretty much over the extra unemployment should be as well .
Work "ethic" has nothing to do with getting extra $$ to live a better life. Those two things are not analogous. Those who were making minimum wage were never getting the top amount in their UE benefits. Only people making the highest salary got the top tier of their UE benefits. They were better off staying home.
Well people with children who aren't working won't go back to work now. They will be getting $300 for each child every month under the age of 6 and $250 for older children. The parents have to be making less than $150,000.
I wonder who's gonna pay this free money.
Tax payers this who ! I dont get it why do people now need $300 per month for each child they have? That's crazy , it could be a one person part time salary if you have 3 or 4 children. All that's going to do is some, not all, But some will take advantage of this and decide to have more children. that is how welfare went wrong . All these government programs like these start out temporary and then end up permanent.

@Kitty GaloreWhat are YOU talking about? Certain income groups with children ALWAYS RECEIVED THIS TAX CREDIT. Reading is critical.
Do you file income tax returns? Have you ever? There are all kinds of credits, deductions, and things people can use to lower their taxes and keep more of the money Uncle Sam gets. Married Filing Jointly? Head of Household?
What are you talking about? Of course, it's always people so upset that someone gets something they don't get. If you don't have this circumstance or income threshold why not just be happy for those who get it? Are you that bad off to begrudge other people because YOU don't get it?

@deepwaterdotter Yes one more thing to worry about now as the original crisis is ending! they are saying it's much more contagious then covid . It's spreading like crazy in India . I pray it doesn't make it here. Not sure if there is even a booster for it .It's here now.
I'm in the midwest and a friend of mine has the Delta variant. She is fully vaccinated and is still very very sick.

That is just my experience. I obseve a lot of ambition and determination and smarts.
I taught a lot of that generation so Im not just talking about my kids or friends.
Do you have any children from that generation?
and I do think this whole discussion has been not just about generations
but all who are in the workforce or not.
@on the bay Earlier I said it's likely we won't agree and that's fine.
I was also going to post some links to articles (there's hundreds) on the phenomenom of Gen X and Gen Y false entitlement. The reason I didn't was because you clearly weren't interested in a different point of view.
This phenomenom has studied by professionals, it has nothing to do with your students or my children. I made my point about it, I really don't care to discuss it anymore.
After I retired, I worked at a grocery store that had a good 100 kids, 16-20, working parttime. I remember only 1 who was lazy. Kids ran circles around the adults who worked there. I've worked with teens and young adults most of my life. I can say the same thing about them. Most are not entitled.
You can believe what you want and read reliable and unreliable information about it. I've seen more entitled adults than young people.
