I don't care for the big fluffy ones either. I like the ones I bought at Kohls.

I agree. It also helps to use dryer balls instead of fabric softener, because fabric softener makes towels less absorbent.

I also don't like ultra-plush washcloths...because my skin needs some exfoliation, not a massage with a cotton wad.

How funny that this was brought up. I recently bought a bath sheet and never again. Way too heavy. I guess I will go back to the regular sized bath towel. They are too large for my towel rack also. I'm getting old I guess.

Are there any bath towels made that don't shrink at the end design area. (Not sure what, if anything, that area is called)

The big, soft, fluffy ones are NOT for me! I just can't get myself dried off with them. I'll keep my old, worn out ones. Oh, and btw, I don't use fabric softener either.

I've found a lot of the reason for decreasing the drying properties of towels has more to do with the soap residue remaining in the material than the towels themselves. Have proved this to myself with many different bath and other towels.

All one need do is throw the towels you just washed back into the machine or even into a sink full of clean water. Let them soak and then wring them out and you just might be shocked at how much residue is still in them after how many rinsing cycles?

Just passing this along and take it for what it's worth from a pretty independent old man.

I just wish I could find towels that don't unravel.

Re: Bath towels.......I've come to a conclusion.

I've gotten really nice Egyptian cotton bath towels and bath sheets from Overstock.com over the years.

I do like the big bath sheets. Mine are over 60" long. I can wrap it around my back and have like two feet on each side with which to dry off everything else. They are very durable, too. The last time I bought any was a few years ago and I use them constantly. They are all in like new condition and the colors stay (I have black, peach, and burgundy) nicely.

I use fabric softener (Downey scent-free), but I go very light in loads with my towels.

I have had some wonderful 100% supima cotton from Penneys, they don't seem to make those anymore. I received some excellent towels from mom that she got at Target - Thomas O'Brien brand. They are very nice and I will buy them again.
