Re: Basically is the new literally

[ Edited ]

Fabric and fabrication is something that gets to me.  Fabric is a material, while fabrication is a process.

George Simonton, tenured professor of fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, who used to be on QVC, always referred to clothing material as  'fabric' and never fabrication.

Basically was around before literally!

Also, people start sentences with "So...." when asked a question.

So?

Even Jeopardy brainiacs.Woman Wink

Agreed!

Back when Judge Judy was in her heyday, I can remember her saying "Don't give me 'basically'!"

ha ha  @sabatini

I was just going to say that!   LOL

And those episodes of JJ are OLD....and she was always all over them for using 'basically'.

I watch old JJ everyday while I ride my exercise bike.

I don't use the word literally because it's a tongue twister for me.  Like some people can't pronounce aluminium.  But my GS drives me nuts because he's often started a sentence with ..... well, basically.......
