The creators of Barbie dolls have come up with two new dolls with disabilities - blind Barbie and Barbie with Downs Syndrome.  Would you buy?

If I had a daughter or niece with one of these disabilities, I'd definitely buy them. Every little girl wants a doll that is like them.

I bought my granddaughter the Barbie in a wheel chair awhile back.  I thought it was important for her to see that not all girls look like the perfect Barbie.  I've yet to see her play with it though they did move recently and things got jumbled up in the move.  I'll give her that.

I have never gotten a girl in my life a Barbie.  I never plan to.

If I had a little one that HAD to have either one--then I'd prob buy it. No harm in that. Barbie is just trying to stay relevent.

Inclusivity, imo, has gone too far. It's never truly about how people feel or want. It's about the $money$.

No, I wouldn't buy it.

Some of the comments on these forums just make me shake my head.

Of course I would buy this Barbie if it would make a young girl happy and feel included. Included is a word I proudly use frequently, often in my life. I would never want to exclude anyone from anything.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I think these dolls would be a great addition to play areas in early education. It would be a way to include and explain differences. Let’s also include different races and cultures.

As blindness runs in my family ( maternal grandmother and mother were totally blind, and I am losing vision due to macular degeneration), I see no problem with either doll that is including differences. Of course, Barbie was after my childhood (I am old), so I rarely consider Barbie as a gift. Smiley Happy
