@Venezia wrote:@Kachina624 - I can't answer for the OP, but I'm in New England and it's definitely mating season for wild turkeys. We have them in our backyard, front lawn, all around the house and fields every day.
I've taken video to send to a friend of the males - quite impressive, when they're strutting around trying to attract the females. We usually have about 20 or more babies by early summer. And then young adults by fall. They never leave; just go into the woods behind our house when winter hits.
I put out bird seed aThnd all the turkeys show up to help themselves!
They're not aggressive at all. Quite the opposite; they'll run/fly off, if they see you getting near them. I love seeing them.
That would be quite a sight to look out into your yard and see all those toms strutting around. It must
really be fun to watch them. Will they bring the babies around?
I had some quail in my yard last week, very handsome birds. They nest on the ground and I don't know how the eggs and babies survived I've with all the predators around.

@Kachina624 The turkeys are around here constantly. Both at my house and at work. The whole tribe, moms, babies, lol... cutting through all the yards.
Although, as I've said, I have never seen these turkeys that are so colorful, like, maybe 4th of July turkeys, red white and blue turkeys, hanging around?! 😂 🇺🇸

@Kachina624 - Oh, yes, the babies will be here and we'll watch them grow into adults. We watch for the babies in early summer. There will always be at least two or three adult females with them.
They never show up with a single female. They group together for safety. Last year we had 20 babies and three females.
We're rural, on 20 acres, and they never go far away from here. They're year-round residents. They also dig holes in our lawns to have dirt baths! We watch them out of the office windows.
My friend from England who visits in June looks forward to seeing them.
(I should add that the two tom turkeys we have in the yard this past week have decided I'm no threat. I shoo them away from my bird table; they walk a little ways off and come straight back. They're not passing up a free meal!)

That must be fun to have the turkeys join you at the table lol![]()
If they are one year residents, where do you think they go after they visit you? Maybe move to a different place every year?
I know some birds/fowl return to the same place.

Tis the season of 'love is in the air' here in western PA, but this morning we below freezing again so hard to tell what the week will bring! The Tom Turkeys are out as are the ladies! And of course the groundhogs are out and about too! The deer are always here, day and night, we see the bedding sites every day. We were so sad that the old apple tree fell to the storms this summer, the deer have gathered at that tree for 30+ years we have been here. Our red-headed woodpecker is drumming several times each day, we hear him at the sunflower feeder! Hope he sooon finds a gal!
