Went up to the restaurant in the next block and got a cup of veggie soup and half sandwich of chicken salad made with cranberries and nuts for lunch. This soup is only available 2 days a week so did not want to miss it - it is better than anything I could make and I make GREAT soup!! Never thought I would like any chicken salad except that my mother made - I also like this!!! Normally I would never buy chicken salad already made - just have a thing about it - but was talked into this about a year ago. Yummy indeed.

Another beautiful day and it is suppose to get downright cold in the next few days and the experts say we will have rain Wednesday, Friday and Saturday - sure hope that is the truth!!! We sure need the rain. Our plants, trees, etc are having a lot of problems with little rain, heat this time of year and while we have had some frigid days, not enough cool weather. Course the nights are really cold out here but often it can freeze at night and you are in shorts by noon. Not good for any thing or any body!!

Am having so many problems with gophers and I had wondered if perhaps I didn't have ground squirrels again - yep. saw one of those horrible critters sitting in my driveway when I drove up - it zipped around back where I had them before. Also had to leave to get something and as I turned in my driveway saw a critter - suspect it was another ground squirres zipping in a hole in the front yard. Am so frustrated as I cannot get rid of them. No one else on this street does anything about them and also with the two empty homes which are falling apart - what can I say.

I will probably have a bagel for dinner - too much going on to fix anything but on second thought I may cook some okra - that's a good meal right by itself. Hmn, I think I shall have that - may also fix some kernel corn. Been on the phone a lot as I think my water heater is on the way out. Heating great but saw a drip or two from the cover so finally got the door off and yep, bit of water and sediment on the cement. Am NOT happy about that. Plumber coming tomorrow - maybe it is not ready for burial yet but am not sure.

Best head to the kitchen and fix those veggies.

Winifred - here's hoping your water heater can be saved. I replaced mine in 2012 and boy howdy that thing was expen$ive.

Water heater could not be saved. Sigh. While he was here had him fix a leak in the bathroom sink and clean out all those strainer gizmos that collect junk on the faucets. Well I can not complain because that water heater was 25 years old.

Not only do I have gophers but ground squirrels also and they make B I G holes. Am not a happy camper about those uninvited nasty critters.

The rain coming sounds like it is going to be a big one and cause some damage where the burns areas from last year were. Always something isn't it but we sure need that water. Will be interesting to see how many idiots will have their sprinklers going full blast while it rains - some people just do not use their heads. I have already turned my sprinkler system off so I do not forget it.

We had some rain last night and early today - the big storm wil hit tonight and tomorrow night and Saturday will be bigger yet. We need it but sad to say, the big fires we had last year have created areas where heavy rains will for sure initiate mud slides and that is going to be quite costly I believe. Hopefuly no homes will be lost but I suspect that will happen. We need the rain but will pay a big price for it.

Had an eggplant sandwich a while back - that is my dinner for tonight.

I must wash my hair - it is a sticky mess getting rained on and I had hair spray on - bad combo. Tomorrow I go to the polmunary guru for him to tell me about the pulmonary test I had a couple weeks back. Sure do not like going to doctors. Sigh.

Winifred I was hoping the rain would be gentle and steady. I suppose without the trees slow and gentle rain or hard and fast rain would still result in mud slides. Scary to think about for sure. Good luck at the doctor tomorrow. I go next week Thursday for my first bloodwork since I started taking the thyroid medicine. I'd be happy if I could stop in, present the arm, give the blood and hit the road. My luck the doctor (nice as she is) will want to talk.

I sent a e-mail to Epi a week or so ago and haven't heard back..so i will send her another one soon.She and i met on another forum and exchanged e-mails addresses a few years ago.

I will leave some rice crispy treats that my grandaughter made enjoy.
