Re: Back Fence in September is still H O T ! !

Good Morning Back Fencers Smile

I went to see my endocrinologist this morning. I am glad the girls in the Health and Fitness forums prepared me for the discussion about belly fat since taking Synthroid. They said the doctor would deny any connection and they were right. Talking to my doctor about it was like talking to a

Instead of telling me good job when I shared my lab tests from July with her (I dropped my LDL from 196 to 141), the first thing out of her mouth was your cholesterol is still too high. In March 2014 she said Synthroid wouldn't have a significant impact in helping my cholesterol levels. When I asked to decrease the dose of Synthroid today, she said that would cause an increase in my cholesterol levels {#emotions_dlg.angry}

I told her that something needed to change and that I was not interested in arguing with her. I let her know that moving forward, I refused to have performance anxiety about test results and said it would be nice if one of my doctors asked me how I was feeling instead of trying to get the perfect score in some kind of test.

I see her next in March 2015. I will experiment with my Synthroid between now and then and feel confident that I will figure that out, like I did with the cholesterol.

Bird mama - That is a significant drop in your LDL, good for you! I always do my own research, never relying on what a Doctor tells me, because I have proved several of them wrong on issues. Frankly, any Doctor who obsesses on cholesterol annoys me. Values on anything fluctuate. I am sure you will figure out the Synthroid issue.

Seems to me that most ALL MDs have their own pet meds. I know I have really argued with mine as his favorite thing to tgreat arthritis is shoot Cortisone in your joints. I said NO NO and NO and he was ticked. I really wish there was something to help my thumbs - they really hurt sometimes. Butg at any rate no more cortisone. Bird Mama, do hope things contginue to go well with you and your LDL continues on a downward swing.I congrfatulate you on lowering it - I cannot seem to do anything to get mine lower other than stupid pills. I eat well and my MD said NOT to change my eating habits but cannot get it lower. Interesting in that I NEVER had a cholesterol problem until I stopped smoking. Actually had NO health problems until I stopped. Get that will you!! {#emotions_dlg.ohmy}

The next few days will be miserable - by Sunday we will be hovering around 106 to 109 - am truly dreading that. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, for the good days while it was hot there was no humidity. Darn it all anyway.

Went to my former church today for their senior luncheon - not sure I will continue going monthly other than I would miss seeing some great people. Most I still see, however, at Olin's church in BEaumont. Interesting in the people working in the kitchen and at the tables ALL now attend church where Olin is except two. Isn't that interesting? It has gotten too long - starts a good 30 minutes late each month and NO GOOD MUSIC! Kind of boring.

Hope all had a super great day!!!

Re: Back Fence in September is still H O T ! !

Just polished off a pint of Blue Bell Rocky Road ice cream and boy was it scrumptious! Sorry I ate it all and didn't bring any to the fence. Shame on me!{#emotions_dlg.blushing}

Took my scooter over to an elderly lady's home as she's on a walker and in need of something to help her get around. She was a little worried about her ability to use it safely, but we took it out in the garage and she rode it for a few minutes to get the feel of it and see how it works. Jim showed her how he puts it on the lift and she was quite interested in all of it.

On our way back home we decided to stop at our favorite Mexican restaurant and have lunch. i had the quesadilla with chili verde and Jim had nachol's. Neither of us were able to eat all of our lunch so we'll have it probably tomorrow. Twas yummy.

Jim mowed the lawn this morning and he hopes it'll be the last time he'll have to do so this year, but we're expecting rain again, so it may well need another cutting.

Freddie, you might want to try an OTC product called Stop Pain. It's a roll on medication that's very effective for all sorts of pain. Jim buys ours at WalMart, but it's probably available in many places.

Betty, that hawk probably did enjoy your entertainment......probably went home and told his family about the funny couple waving at him{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Bird Mama, that must have been such a shock to that lady to find her mom deceased. You're right, we are not promised tomorrow or even the next second; just goes to show we need to live right.

Happy Thursday all. Sue

Re: Back Fence in September is still H O T ! !

Queen Sue, that ice cream sure sounds good. But you ate all of it up? Boo Hoo. Well, it would not have lasted very long in our heat anyway.

Yesterday was HORRIBLE!!! Today is suppose to be worse. Just cannot figure out this miserable weather we are having and it just gets worse instead of better.

Had another great grand and her friend stop by yesterday - do not see this great very often. We had grilled hot dogs - no I did NOT go out and cook them, the younger ones did, and we had corn on the cob, broccoli salad, potato salad and baked beans. Not much left over so must assume the food was well enjoyed.

Stripes hung out most of yesterday morning but then disappeared - guess there were just way too many people here - and he did not come in last night. Stinker! He is slowing down in some ways yet remains a bit too independent to suit me but stays as lovable as he ever was.

Hope all have a great day. Stay cool!

Sue, it was nice of you to let your elderly neighbor/friend test drive your scooter. It takes time to adjust to one, but I would think that once you get the knack of it, it helps conserve your energy for the destination (versus the journey).

Winifred - I'm sitting here looking at drenched grass from the overnight rain. It's kinda chilly too. Wish I could send some of this weather your way. As I sit here with my Presto sitting on my right arm watching me type, thanks for watering the outside birds. It's nice of you to bend the rules a little to benefit the wildlife.

I put some rocky road and moose tracks ice cream in the small fridge by the fence. Yes, I've moved another appliance out with an extension cord - the cooler just wasn't cutting it {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Waving hello to visitors to the Back Fence.

Epi - have you undergone the procedure? How are you feeling?

I am addicted to Moose Tracks Ice Cream. Never had any until a couple years ago - I think it is the best ever - hard to find out here. Only have found ONE grocery store which carries it - hard to believe but true.

105 today - just miserable and tomorrow and Monday are suppose to be worse.

Hope all are well and C O O L!!!!

Re: Back Fence in September is still H O T ! !

Good Morning Fencers - it's chilly here and I'm not expecting warm temps until the weekend when it should hit the mid 70's. It's been in the 40's, possibly the 30's tonight, and generally feeling like fall. I'm leaving some fleece throws if it is cool at your part of the fence and want to sit a spell. Boy, I am going to have some kind of cleaning before too long. I've got roasters, a small fridge, lawn chairs scattered up and down this fence.

I may need a u-haul to pick up everything that I've dragged out this year {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Re: Back Fence in September is still H O T ! !

Still H O T out my way BUT there have been a few storms. Of course we are just inundated with flash flood warnings but have not seen nary a drop of that wet stuff. Sigh.' Others nearby got way too much stuff of the mud, etc. Something really wrong with our weather out here these days. Do wish it would settle down and normalcy would return.

Had no notice to cut back on electrical today - yesterday was a bad day and very difficult to do but did get an email about 2 hours ago saying cut back tomorrow again - same times between 2 and 6 p.m. Geesh.

Am tired so will call it quits for now - we need some other visitors - sure do miss everyone.

Hope all had a great day.

Re: Back Fence in September is still H O T ! !

guess it's been a while since I stopped by the fence. I go tomorrow to have my procedure done. Hope it works,as I have not been feeling good, and did not even celebrate my birthday. Being 69 is a real downer Smiley Sad. Our deck is finished and rug and furniture is in place. We are so happy with it. He did a great job,and was well worth the small fortune it cost us,LOL!!!! today is the first in over a week that we have not had my daughters dog here. She,the dog, had a tumor and they removed her toe. It was harmless, but she was a very bad girl. The next day she took off the bandage,so my daughter slept on the sofa to keep an eye on her. The next night she not only got the bandage off,but she ripped out the stitches. then they put staples in. It was difficult because of so little skin left. next day,she got the dressing off. Also managed to get the staples out!!!! so,finally put a collar for her to wear at night or when she was left alone. My poor daughter was so tired, just like having a sick child. staples are finally out and she is fine. Boy, they always say BRIARDS are stubborn dogs. we found out how true it is. It is real fall weather here,nice and cool. great to have the windows open. I will get back to the fence after my ERCP is done. nice to visit with you all.......
