Baby (Mommy) Shower Question???

Can anybody please tell me how many baby (mommy) showers a woman it allowed to have? Is there a limit? Do you get to keep having showers after the birth of your third or fourth baby?

Years ago I was told that baby showers were for the first born because that's when you need to get so many things. Is that wrong now?

I'm now getting invitations to baby showers...2 recently...one is for their third born child (was told to buy diapers.) And the other (a mommy shower) is for their fourth baby. This one named the specific items to buy...and they are for the mother...not the baby.

I feel so out of the loop. Is this the norm now-a-days?
