Flying saucers and the marshmallow ice cream cones!

Although not candy, I always enjoyed picking up a new book of paper dolls for 25 cents!! That was usually a big splurge, lol.

Yes! I must have eaten hundreds of those!

I liked black licorice best. The recipe has changed so much since the Dark Ages, though. Too sweet and bland these days. This is just as well for my diet, though.

Mary Janes were nice, too. And "Atomic Fireballs"--remember them?

Mary Janes are not ringing a bell. Can you describe one? Perhaps it was a regional thing.

Tootsie Rolls.

You know, I just heard on the news last week that the gentleman who started the Tootsie Roll company recently passed away.

I know I ate my share of Tootsie Rolls, too.

I loved the foil wrapped coins in the little net pouch.

We used to pretend the flying saucer candy was communion. After we would drink the liquid from the wax bottles, we would chew on the wax. LOL

My SIL and his brother were altar boys. They used to very seriously "play" communion at home and used candy as the host and spoke their own version of Latin.

black licorice and Atomic fireballs for me too.

We had a penny candy store within walking distance and a few times during the summer we would be given a dime to go to the candy store. The only rule was we couldn't make all our choices bubblegum. I loved the sour grape and sour apple bubblegums!

During Halloween time there would be wax fingernails, mustaches and lips. We would chew them and there would good util you took a drink of water. Then they would crumble.

Thanks for bringing back that memory. I really loved the lips the best!

I still love those Goetze's caramels. And I used to buy Mint Juleps and Banana Beich's little taffy squares that were 2 for a penny.

When I was little, I wanted my birthday cake 'iced" with the centers. I cannot tell you how many I ate, saving the middle. I ended up with a small hardened glob of the good stuff.

Clearly, even as a child, you were a SERIOUS lover of caramels. Love how you saved the middles. So sweet!

My dad used to buy us penny candy bags on his way home.

We would play ""Hot or Cold"" - he would hide them!
